The Meaning Line

Variable 2: The Second Continuum of Consciousness

chart of the Meaning Continuum

The first thing to notice about the Meaning Line is that it is a continuum which runs vertically across the Information Line, and which intersects the Information Line at exactly the mid point. This positioning means that the mix of mental and emotional information is equal at any and all points on the Meaning Line. This idea, that the information mix is 50/50 at all points on the Meaning Line, is important in that, as I stated above, it meets the first criteria for both wounding and healing.

The second thing to notice about the Meaning Line is that is it simply a continuum from the state in which a person "is unable to assign a meaning to the current information" to the state in which a person "instantly assigns a meaning of the information." I call these two extremes, "Trance" and "Shock." Thus, at the top of the line is the state of being I call, "Trance," which is the state of being in which a person  knows the meaning of whatever information is present instantly. At the bottom of the line is the state of being I call "Shock," which is the state of being in which a person is completely unable to assign meaning to whatever information is present

What is important to know here is that being in Trance is the Second Criteria for both wounding and healing. In other words, Trance is the only state of being in which people can be wounded. More important, Trance is the only state of being in which people can heal their wounds.
