Exploring the Nature of Talk Therapy
Emergence Therapy is a gentle, loving, spiritual psychotherapy which defines "wounds" as "the problems you can not see"; literally, as "a BLocked ability to freely picture on the screen of the mind." This definition differs markedly from most therapies as most define wounds as "the problems you can see"; as either "the painful symptoms" (e.g. depression, rage) and / or as "the painful events" (e.g. rape, a car accident). In truth, "the problems you can see" are never the actual wounds themselves. This is why therapies which focus on eliminating "what you can see"; the symptoms and painful events; most times heal nothing even when people feel better. Why? Because "health" is never simply feeling better, especially when all that has happened is that peoples' symptoms have been masked and or their painful events explained. What then is the actual nature of "health?" What is the nature of "wounds" and "healing?' And what can people do to, in a focused and loving manner, find and heal their wounds? In this part of the emergence site, we explore mental health in general, and how therapies, wounds, and healing affect one's mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. We also pose new questions regarding the nature of therapy itself, such as what is the best way to explore one's wounds and how can you know when a wound has been healed. |
