Why Talk Plainly?
Do Words Really
Matter That Much?

What is
Emergence?

Have you been trying to make a change? The bad news? It's hard to do. But then you knew that already. In fact, if you've been honest with yourself, you know that most of your efforts to change will fail no matter how well intentioned they may be. Maybe not right away. But eventually. The good news? There's a kind of change that doesn't fail, the kind we refer to as "aha's." Moreover, since aha's change people permanently, these changes last for the rest of your life.

So why hasn't science been researching aha's? Because modern science ridicules anyone who won't force fit the messy roundness of human nature into square dry holes filled with statistics and logic. They think anyone who trusts their personal truth more than science is a fool. And since aha's are incredibly personal, round, and messy, anyone who takes them seriously gets the scientific hooha.

What makes us trust science more than we trust ourselves? Essentially, just one thing. We crave instant answers, and statistics and logic are like fast food for the mind. Thus built into our nature is a desire to believe this stuff, even when we know it's flawed.

We're also told that reliable repetition is the proof of truth. And since aha's never repeat the same way twice, we prefer the safety of good old, reliable logic to the real world truth of aha's.

What can you do to see past these lies? To start with, you can ask yourself the kinds of questions science doesn't like to ask, things like what are wounds and why doesn't logic heal them? A hint. Logic isn't what injures us. Being startled does the dirty deed. This is why some of us can spend decades doing things like cognitive-behavioral talk therapies and still feel no better than when we started. And yes, talk therapies do make people feel better. And occasionally, they accidentally provoke breakthroughs. But wouldn't you rather invest your time in something which focuses entirely on lasting change than on something which works by accident?

Of course, to make this kind of change, you'll need proof. Here, you'll need to learn how being startled injures you. You'll find this answer inside, along with some interesting new stuff about the mind body connection. For instance, have you ever asked yourself what connects the mind and body? Is this idea just a bunch of new age nonsense? Do you know for sure? You'll be stunned by how simple the answer is. It's our sense of time. Moreover, it's this same sense of time which underlies everything from overeating and drug addiction to ADHD and clumsiness.

Are you looking for hard science? Know you'll find that here too, albeit, we don't voice our science as old school statistical nonsense. Rather, we trust nothing which cannot be expressed as fractals. Personality theories to personal preferences. Human consciousness to personal truth.

What makes us trust fractals? Because traditional science sees statistical significance as the proof of truth. Thus they often trust "partially true things," which is sort of like saying you can be partially pregnant. With fractals, however, nothing is true unless it's one hundred percent true. Thus, like all oak leaves are oak leaves and all clouds are clouds, all the things we posit here are one hundred percent true as well. At least, all the things we posit as fractals.

How do we come up with these fractals? We use something called, the Four Wise Men's Map, a recent discovery which uses fractals to map the human mind. In the next year, we'll be releasing a series of three books which document this map in detail. Know that everything on this site derives from this map, including the three main perspectives we use to make our discoveries.

What are these perspectives? The first we call, The Emergence Formulas for Consciousness. It's an algebra which maps the visual intensity of what occurs on the screen of the mind into three dimensional space. The second we call, Emergence Personality Theory. Here, we've posited the world's first explanation for human nature based on a nested set of ten fractals. Sort of like Russian nesting dolls. Finally, the third perspective we call, Emergence Therapy. This is the first talk therapy capable of purposely altering a person's nature. Permanently. And without blaming anyone.

Know the ingredients we've used in these three perspectives have existed for thousands of years. People have been talking about aha's for a long time now, albeit we prefer to refer to these experiences by their scientific term; emergence. Moreover, while it's true, nothing is new under the sun, in a very real way, we could call ourselves world class chefs, in that we've used already known ingredients to invent new recipes for loving each other.

Speaking of love, along the way, we've also unearthed some new ideas about what makes children lose their love of learning. As well some ways to reawaken this love of learning, in children and in ourselves. Here, we ask questions like what makes memorizing painful? Can children who hate math learn to love it? And how do you know your child has been matched to the right teacher?

Of course, we also know that a theory is only as true as it's usefulness. Thus we've also created a series of personality tests; the Emergence Social Priority Charts. Know these tests are several magnitudes more predictive and accurate than any prior tests. Yet they're so easy to use, they take but six minutes to administer. Moreover, not only will you know yourself better, it's possible, just by taking them may heal things in you.

What you won't find on this site is blame. Why not? Because nothing kills peoples' chances to heal and grow more than blame. Thus while we do pose a lot of provocative questions, we do not blame people for their wrongs. And yes. We do see people as responsible for these wrongs. We just don't see how blaming people makes the world any better.

Is this your first visit? Then you might find it helpful to read the "What is Emergence?" articles. Especially the Emergence Glossary. We do tend to talk about things things a bit differently here. Or perhaps you'd prefer to just jump in and poke around. Please feel free to do either, and go wherever your heart leads you.

Know also that most people, on their first visit, feel overwhelmed. Too many topics. Too many long articles. And way too much to learn in anything like a single visit. The thing is, if you treat our site like a big-thick-encyclopedia of secrets and mysteries (and if you honor yourself and go only at your heart's own pace), then in time, we're sure you'll see beauty in things you thought had no beauty. Including in the people you currently dislike the most.

Finally, for whom have we written all this? Mainly, for the child in all of us. The part of you that so wants answers but doesn't want to hurt anyone in the process. Thus whether you be therapist, teacher, aspiring healer, or wounded soul, if you are looking for compassion, we have a lot to share with you.

Our overall hope, of course, is that what we've posted on this site may in some way inspire you to seek your own way to make the world a better place. Especially for children. As well as to help you to rediscover the awe and wonder you once felt each and every morning, as you set out to find the most wonderful treasure of all; the the beauty hidden within each and every being in our world.

May these beautiful feelings emerge in you.

Steven
