Week 9 Evening Exercises - 91 Days of Conscious Eating
This week's evening exercise focuses on noticing your attitudes in and around hunger. Most people, by age four, lose much of their awareness of hunger and fullness and are only aware of the extremes; when they feel very hungry or very full. In between these two states, most people notice very little.
In addition, many people experience a low level of fear when they go too long without eating. Did you get frightening warnings as a child with regard to what would happen to you if you didn't eat? I personally felt this many times, and faced it only later in life. I did this by learning to fast, and on several occasions, did ten day fasts.
Before I did this, I believed doing this would kill me. What it did do was restore my sense of hunger and fullness.
What about you? Are you curious as to how much hunger awareness you're retained? Exploring this is this week's daily focus.
